For all those who support the nail polish that detects date rape drugs. Are we now supposed to add securing our nails to the list of precautions we must take before leaving the house?

Also, those nail polish colors are REAL limiting. Fuck that noise.

these are all excellent images with very important messages. but i have words on this matter.

can we not call attention to the fact that we need to stop rape at its source (that is to say, stop rapists from raping people) WHILE ALSO acknowledging that people need ways to defend themselves until the problem can finally be eradicated? bashing things like date rape drug detection nail polish is a little like saying to someone with some kind of misery-inducing disease, “we haven’t found a cure yet, so there’s really no point in the treating the symptoms in the meantime. just go ahead and suffer ‘til we can wipe it out all at once.” like, no. devoting resources to preventing rapists from raping people IS VERY IMPORTANT, but so is giving people all the tools possible to defend themselves until it’s not a problem anymore.

drug-detecting nail polish may not be the most practical of ideas in every situation, but it seriously doesn’t deserve the hate it’s been getting. where was the backlash against the self-defense keychains? the drug-detecting drinkware? the tear-resistant anti-rape clothing? the guides for self-defense techniques? this is in the same vein. it’s just another self-defense tool for people to protect themselves with until the rape culture we live in finally subsides.

Actually, that’s brings up an interesting point. Why is there backlash to this, but I’ve mostly seen praise for the GHB detecting coasters and straws, and the keychain mace and those barbed condoms?

I mean, all the criticism of the nail polish I’ve seen has been totally valid and reasonable, but I simply don’t remember seeing the same critique surrounding other rape-prevention products? Is there an aspect of this particular instance that I’m missing?

people see it as excessively feminine like ooh noo now i HAVE to wear nail polish??? EW YUCK when its clearly just a tool to be at a sketchy ass club without holding on to your drink the whole time like bullet proof vests dont stop a bullet from going into a head but that doesnt mean bullet proof vests have no purpose nor does that mean bullet proof vests stop gun culture like„yeah

Watch the inspirational video of this quadriplegic who plays and streams Diablo 3

!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been watching this guy’s livestreams for a few days now. He’s super positive and really nice to all his viewers, answering everything he can. Also considering his abilities he is really good at Diablo III and WoW. Like the fact that I could have been playing WoW with people like him and getting my ass handed to me by them is part of the reason I appreciate video games as a form of therapy.

"I’m really feeling good about myself!"

This makes me SO happy. Amazing!
